Ever Fresh TV Show ‘the Simpsons’

‘The Simpsons’ is the most successful animation series in America and kids throughout the world can’t imagine their days without watching the ridiculous as well as hilarious activities of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie- the Simpsons family.

Events are set in the fictional town of Springfield and Homer Simpson is the skull of the family. Although he’s the main character, he doesn’t have the guts of a hero. Considering him the dumbest guy of the town would not be over the top. He’s an employee at Nuclear Power Plant and his characteristics include crude, overweight, clumsy and lazy. Marge Simpson is his wife and the mother of the family. She’s of course better than Homer and is smart, sophisticated and a gorgeous lady. Although Homer’s doings are not loveable, but Marge still has sweet feelings for her husband and she always stands by the man she loves. Lisa Simpson can be called the smart cookie of the family. She has a will to do something but doing that something sometimes makes her drive the people of Springfield a little crazy. Bart Simpson is the son of the family and is complete opposite to his sister Lisa. He’s often seen getting himself into troubles. Maggie Simpson is a kid who can’t even talk but who understands well that he’s a part of a crazy family.

The Simpsons is not only the most beloved TV show but is also the longest running as well. Running for twenty successive seasons is not a child’s play but ‘The Simpsons’ did it proving itself an extremely entertaining animation series. The Simpsons made their TV debut on April 19, 1987 on the Tracey Ullman Show in a cartoon series entitled ‘Good Night’. People liked it very much and The Simpsons returned in the form of a 30 minute animation series on Fox Network on December 17, 1989. It became one of top thirty highest rated shows of that season. Most of its episodes have received 20 million viewers and innumerous has crossed 30 million viewers per episode.

Series has been criticized by people from time to time because of the eccentricities of the characters, most notably Homer Simpson and Bart Simpson. In fact, several schools across the United States banned Bart Simpson t-shirts. Despite all this, series is very popular and is one of the most awaited ones on Sunday Nights.

American TV will always be proud of ‘The Simpsons’ and no show can ever repeat the success it enjoys. As of now, series is supposed to return with the twenty first season and some of the upcoming episodes are entitled ‘Treehouse of Horror XX’, ‘Pranks and Greens’ and The Devil Wears Nada’.

‘The Simpsons’ has received more awards than any other American animated series. Its’ the only one show to receive 24 Emmy Awards, 26 Annie Awards and a Peabody Award. The Simpsons family was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2000. Time Magazine has named it the 20th Century’s Best Television Series. It’s annoyed grunt “D’oh”! has been accepted into the English lexicon.

‘The Simpsons’ TV show is the example whenever there’s any question about the popularity of animation!

THE SIMPSONS intro lego style

I made this video when I was 13. This is the TV series Simpsons intro but it´s done in lego. It took me about two days to film and edit. This video was in Television, in Estonia and Also on BBC2 on the Graham Norton show. It was shown to Harry Shearer. And yes, I knew who I was talking to and I was just scared, because The call was a surprise to me. I tried to make it as smooth as possible, though it could have been better. The first part with the clouds was done in Paint. I used Pinnacle Studio version 8 to edit it. The laser was done in lsmaker. I hope you like it.

Hard Times

Hard Times features a variety of characters from The Simpsons, most notably greedy billionaire C. Montgomery Burns. Another Day in Court for O.j. Simpson

The behavior of O.J. Simpson is current news once again. The events of his tortured life keep showing up on national television to remind every American viewer that justice does not always prevail. As well as the justice system in this country works, it is far from perfect. Seeing O.J. Simpson once again in the news, brings back the whole story of the tragedies of the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown.

You may recall that Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown were brutally slain in 1994 which resulted in the most controversial murder trial of the twentieth century involving football, movie, and television celebrity O.J. Simpson.

The evidence presented at his trial was overwhelming. It should have resulted in a conviction of O.J. Simpson for the brutal murders. However; the trial would become known for the incredible mishandling of the evidence of the case by the Los Angeles Police Department and some dubious rulings by the trial judge. This mishandling of the case allowed a clever trial attorney (the late Johnnie Cochran) to use the issue of race to create doubt in the minds of some of the trial’s jurors about whether California authorities were framing Simpson for the murders. O.J. Simpson was acquitted by the jury on the criminal charges of the case in 1995.

In 1997, the case was tried in civil court where the Goldman and Brown families won, and were awarded a 33.5 million dollar verdict to be paid by Simpson. Ten years later, despite a decade of court hearings, Simpson still owes the Goldman and the Brown families all but about $500,000 of the 33.5 million dollar verdict for the wrongful deaths of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman..

O.J. Simpson has avoided paying most of the civil suit award and is a still a wealthy man with a three figure income and a private stock account of 2 million dollars. He has managed to maintain this wealth because most of his income is derived from pensions from the National Football League, TV, and movies that are exempt from the civil judgment due to the law. His stock account is protected by the need to pay for the support of his three children. His house in Florida is protected by a Florida law which forbids seizing a house to pay a civil penalty.

Except for about $500,000 of assets claimed from Simpson in the late 1990’s, the only thing that the civil suit award has done for the Goldman and Brown families is to allow them to claim the rights to Simpson’s 2006 book titled “If I Did It”. The book written by Simpson is a first-person fictional account of the murder had he (Simpson) actually committed it. The book was withdrawn by the publisher just before its release. (when Simpson had the rights to the book.) The book was released last week by the Goldman family and the title of the book was expanded to” If I Did It: (Confessions of the Killer).” The book has already become a best seller.

As fate would have it, on September 17, 2007 , the day after this book was released by the Goldman family, O.J. Simpson was arrested in Las Vegas in connection with the attempted theft of items of sports memorabilia from a Las Vegas casino hotel room. Simpson is charged with eleven criminal counts; including two counts of first-degree kidnapping with use of a deadly weapon, two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. All but one of the listed offenses are felonies. These are serious charges that could lock O.J. Simpson up for the rest of his life. Of course, Simpson claims that he is innocent, and his explanation was that he was in the middle of his own “sting” operation to recover items that belonged to him.

Many people remember the famous lyrical line the late Johnnie Cochran used to free Simpson. He delivered the line to the jury during the O.J. Simpson murder trial. This infamous quote concerned the apparent struggle of Simpson to fit into the murderer’s gloves. Cochran said, “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit.” Simpson will have yet another day in court for the serious felony charges brought by the State of Nevada. Let’s hope justice will finally arrive with the next trial jury, because if these felony charges stick, this time, they have to convict.

The Simpsons – From Creation to Current Day

Matt Groening, created the animated sitcom, “The Simpsons” for Fox Broadcasting Company. The idea came from the lobby of James L. Brooks’s office and that’s how this popular adaptation of a dysfunctional family came about. Even the characters were named after his own family members, with the exception of lead character Bart.

On April 19, 1987, “The Simpsons” made their first appearance as shorts in The Tracey Ullman Show. When the initial submission was made, only basic sketches were handed in expecting they would be refined in production stages but they were left as is and that’s the reason why despite modification over the years the Simpsons still have a very rudimentary facade. On December 17, 1989, “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire” was the half-hour premiere show.

The Simpsons has been debated since the start with lead character Bart often going scot-free despite wrong doings and this portrayed him as a poor role model for youngsters. It’s portrayal of the middle class American lifestyle symbolized by family members Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie Simpson. The backdrop of the show is the fictional town of Springfield, which is filled with characters, and events that are an animated and inspired from American society.

Homer Simpson the father is employed as a safety inspector at Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. Often his job is at risk as a result of his casual and comic nature. His wife, Marge is a conventional American housewife and mother. Their 3 children are Bart, a ten-year-old menace, Lisa, an aware 8 year old activist and the baby Maggie, who hardly speaks but does communicate by sucking on a pacifier. They have a dog called Santa’s Little Helper, and a cat, called Snowball II. Over the years, the show has celebrated even ts but the characters have not aged since the start of the show.

The Simpsons have influenced mainstream society in more ways than one. Language and terms used in this animated sitcom has made its transition into popular everyday vernacular. To the extent that Homer Simpsons popular use of the expression ‘D’oh!’ is listed in the Oxford English Dictionary without its apostrophe. Even the use of the term ‘excellent’ pronounced as ‘eexcelllent’ in the show is used by people around us. The term ‘cheese-eating surrender monkeys”‘ referring to the French has been used by popularly by conservative National Review columnist Jonah Goldberg in 2003, when the French opposed the invasion of Iraq proposal. And soon it was popular lingo amongst journalists.

The Simpsons is a legendary show in respect to prime time television programs. This is because initially animated shows were thought to be for kids and airing a complete animated program on prime time for universal viewing was a bold step. Though thought to be an expensive idea, The Simpsons were aired successfully because they cut down on expenses by using Korean animation studios for in-betweening, coloring, and filming.

The success of The Simpsons show prompted many others to start animated shows of this nature and for prime time viewing. In its time it has certainly been a pioneering show if its type and still stands tall. In fact the Simpsons are so respected that when South Park achieved success on television they aired an episode “Simpsons Already Did It” as homage to its predecessor.

Incidentally Bart was the only imaginary character on the list.

At the turn of this century the Simpsons won a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Simpsons Movie made $74 million in its opening weekend in the US.

In the end of the last century a number of US public schools banned ‘The Simpsons’ merchandise and t-shirts. A shoebox full of blow.

simpsons.jpgSo the Simpsons had their Treehouse of Horror XVII tonight. People criticize the Simpsons as being out of touch and not risqué enough for today’s audience. I disagree with this, the Simpsons can and do push the envelope from time to time but tonight was just off.

The first of three was Married To The Blob, an overdone parody on all fronts. Homer eats an interstellar blob and grows to grotesque size, eating everything and everyone he comes across. With a cry of “must eat, then poop, then eat while I poop” he starts with the participants in a BBQ sauce fight. He then moves on to eat fat folk, taking out Comic Book Guy and the staff from a Hawaiian shirt store. As he comes across Dr. Phil (as voiced by Dr. Phil) it occurs to me the fundamentally significant different between the Simpsons and Family Guy – namely the latter would make fun of Dr. Phil while this show paid him to appear. I prefer the latter. The short ends with Homer eating homeless people. Whatever.

The commercial break featured a trailer for “Deck The Halls” starring Matthew Broderick and Danny Devito. I guess everyone has bills to pay from time to time.

The second feature was You Gotta Know When to Golem, premised with Bart controlling a golem Krusty the Clown keeps backstage. The episode was summed up by Krusty who, when faced with the horrible truth, says “I’m gonna need a shoebox full of blow to get through this dreck.” I couldn’t agree more. This golem with a conscience short is finally, mercifully ended with the golem marrying a female golem created by the Simpson family. The female is voiced by Fran Drescher. It was at this point I punctured my eardrums with my pen to avoid permanent damage.

The last of this trio of tripe was The Day The Earth Looked Stupid with a Scary Movie 4-inspired (omg did I just say that?) take on War of the Worlds. This short also inspired the funniest line when a panicking Orson Welles approached Chief Wiggum to warn him of the impending alien apocalypse and is rebuked with “Back off or I’ll bust your nose, bud,” to which Orson whispers quietly to himself, “nosebud…” – the only evidence the Simpsons hasn’t jumped the cartoon shark yet. That and Big Band Stu says 23 skiddoo. In the end it was just more critique on the American occupation of Iraq and a pretty poor choice to end the show on.

Overall another Halloween special has come and gone. Maybe next year they can do something original. Or maybe the official movie will spell the end of the Simpsons on TV.
